The Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia orders transfer of criminal case on incident on territory of Serpukhov monastery to the Central Office of agency


The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, has instructed that the criminal case of an attempted murder in the Serpukhov monastery be referred to the Main Investigative Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for further thorough and comprehensive investigation.

Criminal case under Part 3 of Article 30, Part 2 of Article 105 and Part 1 of Article 223 of the Criminal Code of Russia (attempted murder and unlawful manufacture of explosives) was initiated by the investigative authorities of the Moscow Regional Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia.

According to preliminary information, a former 18-year-old pupil of an Orthodox parochial school was involved in committing the crimes in the Serpukhov nunnery. He himself was injured as a result of the incident and is now in a medical facility.

One student with injuries sustained as a result of the incident has been hospitalized, while six others are being examined by doctors. The exact details of the casualties are being clarified.

A team of investigators and forensic specialists from the Investigative Committee of Russia is working at the scene.

The chronology and motives of the crime are being established, as well as the causes and conditions that preceded it. As part of the investigation, the necessary forensic examinations will be appointed, including a psychological and psychiatric examination to assess the suspect's state of health.
