Investigators of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Kemerovo Region detained the owner of the mine and a number of executives of the holding company


The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia continues to investigate the criminal case of the tragedy at the Listvyazhnaya mine in Kemerovo Region, which resulted in the death of 51 people. Investigators of the Central Office of the Committee detained four more persons, including the main owner of the mine, chairman of the board of directors of SDS-Ugol Mikhail Fedyaev; the general director of this legal entity Gennady Alekseev; the technical director of the company Anton Yakutov; the chief engineer of Listvyazhnaya Mine, Anatoly Lobanov. Depending on their roles, they were each charged with committing crimes under Part 3 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code (violation of industrial safety requirements at hazardous industrial facilities, resulting in death by negligence of two or more persons) and Part 2 of Article 201 (abuse of authority in a commercial organisation, resulting in grave consequences).

The investigation intends to apply for remand in custody as a preventive measure against all detainees.

As part of a criminal investigation, Sergei Makhrakov, director of the Listvyazhnaya mine, Andrei Molostov, his first deputy, Sergei Gerasimenok, head of the site, and Sergei Vinokurov and Vyacheslav Semykin, chief state inspectors of the Belov territorial department of the Siberian Directorate of Rostekhnadzor, were detained and charged with the crime. Depending on their roles, they were charged under Part 3 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code, and Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code (violation of industrial safety requirements at hazardous industrial facilities, resulting in death by negligence of two or more persons; negligence).

The investigation continues to establish all the circumstances of the crimes committed and the persons whose actions and omissions led to the tragic consequences.
