In Yakutia, criminal cases into taking and giving bribes were initiated against the chief engineer of Alrosa's capital construction department and a representative of a commercial company

The Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) initiated criminal proceedings against the chief engineer of the capital construction department of AK Alrosa (PAO) on the grounds of a crime under Part 6 Article 290 of the Criminal Code (taking a bribe in an especially large amount for committing acts in favor of the bribe-giver, if these acts are within the official authority of the official). Besides, a criminal case on bribery was brought against a representative of a commercial organization (Part 5 of Article 291 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to the materials of the criminal case, the chief engineer of the department of capital construction with the purpose of illegal enrichment personally received a bribe in an especially large amount of over 4 million rubles from a representative of a commercial organization. He received the money for facilitating the conclusion of an additional agreement between Alrosa and a commercial enterprise. The briber and the bribe taker were detained while handing over the money, and at the request of an investigator of the Investigative Committee of Russia the court subjected them to custody. Both were charged.

A set of investigative and procedural actions aimed at the collection and consolidation of the evidence is currently being carried out as part of the criminal case. The criminal investigation continues.
