The Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia orders report on pedestrian collision on Nevsky Prospekt in St Petersburg

A driver with signs of intoxication drove into a pedestrian crossing at a red traffic light and hit two people before crashing into a lamppost on 15 December 2021, according to media reports. A 23-year-old girl was killed in the incident and a 26-year-old man was hospitalised with serious injuries. The driver, born in 1978, has been detained. The police have initiated criminal proceedings on the case. It was found out that the driver had been previously held administratively liable.

The Head of the Committee instructed the acting head of the St. Petersburg Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia A.D. Golombievsky to report on the situation.
