On December 15, 2021 citizens from Nizhny Novgorod Region, residents of a house partially destroyed in July 2020 as a result of a domestic gas leak, addressed the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia for a second visit. Over the past month, with the assistance of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, a number of issues were resolved, including shifting the deadline for the resettlement of people. In addition, criminal cases of negligence and provision of services that do not meet safety requirements are being investigated. The head of the organization, which provided substandard services for replacement of gas equipment, was charged. The accused has been taken into custody.
The day before a number of media reported that the owners of apartments in the house on Krasnodontsev Street 17 had received compensation for removal of the property.
Earlier the Chairman of Investigative Committee of Russia assured citizens that they will not be left without support alone with their problems and instructed the head of the Nizhny Novgorod Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia A. S. Ahmetshin to promptly report on the measures taken by the investigation to restore the violated rights of citizens and other issues of concern to them.
