The Astrakhan Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia is investigating a criminal case into the death of two people as a result of a fire in the regional infectious diseases hospital on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 219 of the Criminal Code (violation of fire safety requirements resulting in the death of two people by negligence).
According to investigators, December 24, 2021 there was a fire in the resuscitation department of the regional infectious diseases hospital named after A. M. Nichoga in Kirovsky district of Astrakhan. After the localization of the fire the bodies of two female patients, 69 and 79 years old, were found. The preliminary cause of the fire was a short circuit in the insulated box.
The Chairman of Investigation Committee of Russia instructed the Head of the Astrakhan Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia Mogushkov I.Sh. to report on the conducted investigative activities.
The progress of the investigation is under supervision in the Central Office of the Investigative Committee.
