On December 27, 2021, an 11-year-old boy took a bus to school. After getting off at the bus stop, he proceeded to the area of the Left Bank of Dubna. However, the boy did not come to school or home. Later in the course of the search the body of the child without any visible signs of violent death was found near the river Yuzhnaya Kanava. According to preliminary expert data, the boy died as a result of hypothermia. Investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Investigative Committee of Russia in Moscow region initiated a criminal investigation into the crime under Part 1 Article 109 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence). By now the investigation completed inspection of the scene and surveillance cameras, where the route of the boy's movements was recorded, the child's parents and witnesses were interviewed, the family living conditions are being studied.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the Head of Investigation Department of Moscow region A. Starikov to find out all causes and conditions which contributed to the incident, and report on the investigative actions taken.

The progress and results of the investigation are under supervision in the Central Office of the agency.
