In the Moscow Region, four local residents found guilty of fraudulent theft of an apartment and murder of its owner

The evidence gathered by the Moscow Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia has been found by the court to be sufficient to sentence four local residents.  Depending on the role of each of them, they are accused of committing offenses under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code (fraud), Paragraph G, J of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder) and Paragraph A of Part 4 of Article 174.1 of the Criminal Code (legalization (laundering) of money or other property acquired by a person as a result of committing a crime).

The investigation and the court found that in September 2017 the accused persons, as a result of fraudulent actions, took possession of the apartment of a resident of Yegoryevsk, Moscow Region. Wishing to hide the traces of the crime, the accused decided to take the former owner of the apartment to the Stavropol Region, where they intended to leave the man for permanent residence. The victim refused to stay in the Stavropol Territory, so the perpetrators decided to take him to Millerovo district of the Rostov Region, where they later committed murder. The criminal suspects subsequently sold the victim's apartment and used the proceeds at their own discretion.

During the investigation of the criminal case the investigator did a lot of work: numerous interrogations and confrontations were conducted, more than 30 examinations were appointed and conducted, including a comprehensive assessment, psychological and psychiatric, comprehensive commission forensic. The complexity of the investigation was due to the fact that the crime was committed in conditions of non-obviousness and the criminals took measures to conceal the traces of the crime. Thanks to competently planned investigative actions and investigative measures we were able to identify a number of witnesses to the crime and determine the role of each person involved in the criminal case.
