Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee Instructs to Report on Investigation into Death of Family in Arkhangelsk Oblast

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin has instructed Head of the Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for Arkhangelsk Oblast and Nenets Autonomous Okrug A. V. Popov to report on the progress of the criminal investigation into the death of a 37-year-old woman and her four children aged 3 to 12 years (Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code, Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code).

According to the investigators, on January 29, 2022, a fire broke out at night in an apartment of the wooden twelve-apartment building on Stroitelnaya Street in the village of Plesetsk. As the fire was being localized, bodies of a 37-year-old woman and her four children aged 3 to 12 years were found. As per the preliminary conclusion, their death was
caused by poisoning with combustion products. One of the versions under consideration is that the fire occurred due to a malfunction of the electric stove in the large famil's apartment. Other residents of the house came out unscathed. In addition, according to the preliminary information, the family had been registered with the preventive authorities as
being in a socially dangerous situation.

The department head instructed the investigators to thoroughly examine all the circumstances of the incident, establishing the causes and conditions that led to the death of the woman and her children. On the Chairman of the IC of Russia's order, the criminal case investigation progress and results are monitored by the Central Office of the
department.
