Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Ordered to File Criminal Charges Over Fraud of Survivor of Siege in Saint Petersburg

The regional TV channel reported that Zinaida Timofeeva, a resident of Kurortny district in Saint Petersburg and a survivor of the siege of Leningrad, had been defrauded of her only house. The fraudsters posed as employees of the city administration and told her that the local government planned to repair a road to her house. But that would allegedly require her consent to repairs near her place of residence. The elderly woman signed all papers, which turned out to be a sale and purchase agreement for her house.

Chairman of the IC of Russia ordered A.D. Golombievsky, Acting Head of the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for Saint Petersburg, to file criminal charges and launch a full investigation. The Acting Head was also ordered to promptly report on the case. The progress of fulfilling the orders is monitored by the Central Office of the IC.
