Four Men Detained in Moskovskaya Oblast on Suspicion of Robbery with Violence at a Store and Causing Fatal Injuries to a Checkout Cashier

The investigator of the Investigative Department for the city of Istra of the CID of the IC of Russia for Moskovskaya Oblast detained four citizens of one of the neighboring countries suspected of committing robbery with violence and causing grievous bodily harm to a woman resulting in her death (Part 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

According to investigators, on February 9, 2022, four men armed with baseball bats entered the store at night. The criminals attacked the manager of the store and his wife, as well as a checkout cashier. They hit them multiple times with bats and stole 96,000 rubles from the cash register, after which they fled the scene of the crime. The checkout cashier died on the spot from the received bodily injuries, the store manager and his wife were hospitalized. Thanks to well-planned investigative actions and operational search activities with the participation of officers of the Main Directorate of Crime Detection of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Moskovskaya Oblast and the CID of the IC of Russia for Moskovskaya Oblast, the suspects were detained in hot pursuit. 

During the investigation of the criminal case, investigators will check the legality of the presence of the foreign citizens on the territory of the Russian Federation, and will also assess the control over their stay on the territory of Moskovskaya Oblast.

Investigators and criminologists have conducted an inspection of the crime scene, during which items of importance to the investigation have been seized, interrogations of witnesses and suspects are being carried out, the place of residence of the attackers has been searched. A number of examinations have been scheduled, including a forensic examination and a molecular genetics test. In the near future, the men will be charged and a pretrial restraint will be selected.
