The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation instructed Head of the Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for Saratov Oblast A. Yu. Govorunov to report on the investigation of a criminal case on the attempted murder of a minor.

On the night of February 12, 2022, a resident of the city of Engels, being in a state of alcohol intoxication, inflicted multiple stab and slash wounds on her minor son. The child was hospitalized to a healthcare facility, the doctors are fighting for his life. The suspect has been detained, the issue of choosing a restriction measure is currently under consideration. Measures aimed at establishing all the crime circumstances are underway. Examinations are being conducted.

The Chairman of the IC of Russia instructed to scrutinize the circumstances of the incident, including to legally evaluated the actions or inaction of the officials of authorities that failed to take preemptive measures to protect the minor's rights.

The course of the investigation is supervised by the Central Office of the IC of Russia.
