Chairman of the Russian IC Instructs to Report on Investigation of Deaths of Six People in Fire in Republic of Sakha (Yakutia)

The investigative authorities of the Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) initiated a criminal case on a possible crime under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence to two or more persons) following the death of six people in a fire in the village of Suntar, Suntarsky District on the night of February 13, 2022. According to the investigators, two adults and four children died in the fire. Within the criminal case, the causes and circumstances of the incident are being established. Required forensic tests have been scheduled.

The Chairman of the IC of Russia instructed the Head of the Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) V. V. Kondratenko to report on the causes and conditions of the incident, as well as on the situation in the family where the deceased children were brought up. In addition, the head of the Russian IC instructed to evaluate the actions or inaction of the prevention system officials.
