On February 13, 2022, a 30-year-old woman and her four minor children died in a fire in a house located in the town of Yuryevets. Following the incident, a criminal case is being investigated on a possible crime under Part 3 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code (causing death by negligence to two or more persons). Also, the investigative authorities of the Investigative Directorate of the IC of Russia for Ivanovo Oblast have initiated a criminal case on a possible crime under Part 3 of Article 293 of the Criminal Code (negligence that caused the death of two or more persons by negligence).
At the initial stage of the investigation, it was established that due to the negligence of the prevention system staff, no sufficient measures had been taken against the mother who failed to properly perform the duties of raising and taking care of children. Being in a situation dangerous for their life and health, the minors were not timely removed from the family, which subsequently led to the tragic consequences and the children's death.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee instructed Head of the Investigative Department for Ivanovo Oblast V. V. Samodaykin to report on the situation. The course of the investigation is supervised by the Central Office of the IC.
