The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasian Federal District has completed the investigation of the criminal case against Oleg Skidanov. He is accused of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code, Part 1.1 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code (participation in activities of an organization, activities of which were banned by a court decision, which has come into legal force, in connection with the implementation of extremist activities, as well as inducement into activities of an extremist organization).
The investigators found that on October 9, 2020, Skidanov joined the extremist Ukrainian organization Right Sector, which is banned by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. He intended to become its full participant and to continue prohibited activities on the territory of the Russian Federation, aiming to aggravate the socio-political situation and destabilize the constitutional system of the Russian Federation. Being a member of the abovementioned organization, on October 10, 2020, Skidanov received an order to collect information about law enforcement officers, judges, prosecutors, and employees of the FSB of Russia, as well as to search for persons who share the Right Sector's ideology in order to subsequently use them in the organization's activities. On October 17 and 18, 2020, Skidanov persuaded Haraim and Kartashov to join the ranks of the abovementioned organization, after which they became its full participants. Criminal cases against them are also being investigated.
The investigators collected the evidence base sufficient to approve the indictment and file the criminal case against Skidanov for trial.
