Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Ordered to File Criminal Charges Over Injury of Child From Attack of Stray Dog in Lipetsk Oblast

Chairman of the Investigative Committee A. I. Bastrykin ordered E. V. Shapovalov, Head of the Investigative Department for Lipetsk Oblast, to file criminal charges over injury of a child from an attack of a stray dog.

On the afternoon of 16 February 2022, upon return from school in the village of Solidarnost, a girl, 9, was attacked by a stray dog, which inflicted the girl bodily injuries in the form of a lacerated wound of a left forearm. The girl’s parents saved her from a dog and informed the law enforcement. The injured child received medical treatment. Currently, the police probes into whether there have been similar cases of violent behavior of dogs towards residents of Yelets Raion.

Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin ordered to give legal evaluation of actions (omission) of certain officials of local administrations and organizations responsible for animal control.

The progress of fulfilling the orders will be monitored by the Central Office of the IC.
