Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin has instructed to submit an operational report on the criminal case against three St. Petersburg residents accused according their role in committing crimes under Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code, Paragraph A of Part 3 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code (rape and sexual violence against a minor using her helpless condition).

Earlier, the investigators collected sufficient evidence, and the criminal case was sent to the prosecutor's office for subsequent filing for trial. However, the supervisory authority has repeatedly ruled that additional investigative actions were required. The criminal case has been returned to the investigative authorities. The Chairman of the Investigative Committee ordered his subordinates to provide information on reasons for the prosecutor's return of the criminal case and the measures taken to appeal the decision.
