According to the media reports, identities of teenagers who reported explosion threats in the region's schools were identified in Ivanovo Oblast. According to the internal affairs authorities, from January to February 2022, anonymous messages about the presence of a terrorist threat in several secondary schools of the city were repeatedly sent to the e-mail address of the Ivanovo City Administration. Following this incident, the Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated several criminal cases on deliberately false reports of a terrorist act.

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation ordered Head of the Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for Ivanovo Oblast V. V. Samodaykin to transfer the materials of the criminal cases to the regional investigative authorities for further investigation and to report on all the circumstances of the incident.
