In Kemerovo Oblast – Kuzbass, Man Accused of Murdering Two Girls Will Face Trial

Investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Kemerovo Oblast – Kuzbass have completed the investigation of a criminal case against a previously convicted 41-year-old resident of the town of Myski, accused of committing crimes under Paragraphs A, C, J of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder of two minors committed in order to conceal another crime, as well as involving rape or sexual violence), 2 episodes of crimes under Part 5 of Article 131 of the Criminal Code (rape of a victim under the age of fourteen, committed by a person with criminal record for a previously committed crime against sexual inviolability of a minor), 2 episodes crimes under Part 5 of Article 132 of the Criminal Code (acts of sexual violence against a person under the age of fourteen committed by a person with a criminal record for a previously committed crime against sexual inviolability of a minor), Part 1 of Article 314.1 of the Criminal Code (unauthorized abandonment of a place of residence by a person on probation committed in order to evade administrative supervision).

According to the investigators, in September 2021, in the town of Kiselyovsk, a 10-year-old girl approached the defendant at a public transport stop during the daytime and asked him for some sunflower seeds to feed the pigeon.

The man, who is in a state of alcoholic intoxication, offered to buy her and her friend some treats, and food for the bird. Having bought himself an alcoholic beverage, and items he promised to the children, he persuaded them to go visit him. In an abandoned house where he temporarily lived, the defendant, having consumed the alcohol, committed acts of sexual violence against the victims. To conceal this crime, the man strangled the girls, threw mattresses over their bodies and left the house. The parents of one of the schoolgirls, worried because the daughter did not return home on time, contacted law enforcement authorities for help. As a result of the investigators' and police officers' competent work, the suspect was shortly identified and detained. The perpetrator confessed about where the children's bodies were hidden. The defendant cooperated with the investigators and admitted his guilt. The court imposed a restriction measure in the form of detention on him.

A criminal case on negligence of police officials exercising administrative supervision over citizens released from prison has been initiated and is currently being investigated.

During the preliminary investigation, submissions were sent to the prevention authorities regarding the elimination of the causes and conditions that contributed to the particularly serious crime against the children. Due to the well-planned investigation tactics and methodology, the investigators of the Department for the Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the Investigative Department managed to thoroughly establish the picture of the particularly serious crime committed against the children.

The investigators collected the evidence base sufficient to approve the indictment and file the criminal case for trial in the shortest possible time.
