A Criminal Case Initiated on the Fact of the Death of Civilians in the Lugansk People’s Republic

The Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use in an armed conflict of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation).

According to the investigation, on February 22, 2022, at about 11:35 p.m., servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, following the deliberately criminal orders of higher commanders and officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, not wanting to recognize the secession of the Lugansk People’s Republic from Ukraine and the proclamation of an independent sovereign state, fired an aimed shot with an anti-tank guided missile at a car moving along the road in the direction of Berezovskoye towards Zolote-5, Pervomaisk, Lugansk People’s Republic, where there were two non-combatant civilians.

As a result of a direct hit by a projectile, the vehicle burned down, and the people in it died on the spot.

The Investigative Committee of Russia will identify the persons involved in the crime and will take all measures to implement the principle of the inevitability of punishment for those involved in this crime.
