The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (encroachment on the life of military personnel) and part 3 of Article 322 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal crossing of the state border of the Russian Federation).

The investigation has established that on February 21, 2022, unidentified persons from among the representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, while moving from the territory of Ukraine on two units of military equipment – infantry fighting vehicles – illegally crossed the State border of the Russian Federation, near Patronovka Khutor, Tarasovsky Raion, Rostov Oblast.

After that, the said group was stopped by officers of the border service of the Russian Federation near Patronovka Khutor, Tarasovsky Raion, Rostov Oblast, and destroyed by return fire during armed resistance.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Currently, the investigation is underway to establish all the circumstances of the incident.
