Members of Criminal Group Sentenced for Committing Several Crimes

The court considered evidence collected by the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia sufficient for sentencing Andrey Korbut, Sergey Kizimenko, and Yevgeny Kizimenko. They were found guilty of committing crimes under paragraphs A, B of Part 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code, paragraphs A, C of Part 4 of Article 162 of the Criminal Code, Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code, paragraphs C, G, H of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code (robbery, causing grievous bodily harm resulting in the victim's death, murder of a person in a helpless state, by an organized group, for personal gain, associated with robbery).

The investigators and the court found that no later than September 2019, a resident of St. Petersburg Korbut created an organized group, to which he attracted his wife's close relatives, the Kizimenko brothers.

On May 18, 2020, the Kizimenko brothers, acting under the leadership of Korbut, committed a robbery against the Karakayev family (father and son) in the town of Velikiye Luki, Pskov Oblast. As a result, the defendants stole money and property from the victims in the amount of RUB 1.1 million.

Also, on the night of July 19, 2020, the convicted committed a robbery against the former director of the Rostselmash plant Yuri Peskov and his 80-year-old sister in the village of Novomargaritovo, Azovsky District, Rostov Oblast. They tied up the victims with adhesive tape and stole money and property in the amount of RUB 350 thousand. The woman died at the scene as a result of closure of her respiratory tract with a foreign object (gag). Yuri Peskov died in December 2020 from injuries and developed complications.

The court sentenced the defendants: Evgeny Kizimenko – to 18 years in prison, his brother Sergey Kizimenko – to 16 years, Andrey Korbut – to 14 years; all of them will serve the sentence in a high-security penal colony.
