According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, in the suburbs of Kiev, near Gostomel Airport, the Ukrainian military use ammunition prohibited by Protocol III of the UN Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons of 1980.

Chairman of the IC of Russia Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia to document the instances of the Ukrainian military using prohibited ammunition and to thoroughly investigate the circumstances of the incident within the criminal case, taking exhaustive measures to identify all perpetrators.
