Jurors Issue Guilty Verdict to a Group of Real-Estate Fraudsters

The evidence collected by the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia has been recognized as sufficient for the jurors of the Novgorod Oblast Court to pronounce a guilty verdict against Gabil Veliyev, Emin Salimov, Gusein Guseynov, Surkhay Geydarov and Alexander Averkin. They have been found guilty of committing a crime under Paragraphs a, c, g, k of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation  (the murder of two or more persons by an organized group; of a person known to the guilty person to be in a helpless state in order to hide another crime and facilitate its commission).

The investigation and the court have established that in 2007-2008, Veliyev, being the creator and leader of an organized group, engaged Salimov, Guseynov, Geydarov, Averkin, as well as Makhir Pashayev and Zhanna Parshuk, to commit in Moscow theft of apartments of individuals who abused alcohol and did not have stable social connections. To facilitate the commission of impending thefts, as well as to conceal the actions already taken to deprive the owners of their rights to housing, the members of the criminal group, under false pretenses, took the victims from the capital to the territory of Novgorod Oblast, where they committed their murders. The defendants were found guilty of seven murders, including murders of three women.

The investigation has established the circumstances of the fraudulent seizure of apartments and discovered the hidden bodies of the victims.

Earlier, in 2021, Parshuk and Pashaev were sentenced to 18.5 and 24.5 years in prison, respectively.
