The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasian Federal District has initiated a criminal case against Vakha Aushev, a civilian, and Israil Aushev, a police officer of the 2nd squad of the 1st platoon of the 3rd company of the Sunzhensky separate battalion of the Police Patrol and Checkpoint Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. They are suspected of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 222 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal acquisition, disposal, sale, storage, transportation, transfer or carrying of weapons, main parts of firearms, ammunition).
It has been established that the defendants, who knew each other, together with other persons, acting by prior agreement, in the period of time before October 1, 2020, illegally acquired weapons for the purpose of their further sale. Then the Aushevs, in order to make profit, deliberately sold the above-mentioned firearms and ammunition in the territory of the rural settlement of Surkhakhi and in the city of Nazran of the Republic of Ingushetia to a buyer, who acted as part of operational search activities.
On February 25 and 26, 2022, the investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for the North Caucasus Federal District, in cooperation with the officers of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the North Caucasus Federal District and the Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Ingushetia, conducted five searches in the households of the Aushevs and other persons checked for their involvement.
The Aushevs were detained, the court chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention. Currently, the investigation is checking the involvement of the suspects in the commission of other crimes, and establishing the involvement of other persons in the committed crimes. The criminal investigation is underway.
