The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues documenting the criminal actions of the Kiev regime aimed at destroying the civilian population of Donbass. According to the investigation, during March 1 and 2, 2022, regular massive shelling of the settlements of the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics were carried out from the territory under the control of representatives of the Ukrainian armed forces and volunteer national battalions using heavy types of weapons with high damaging properties. Once again, the cities of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Dokuchaevsk, Yasinovataya, Makeevka of the DPR, the cities of Pervomaisk and Kirovsk of the LPR and nearby settlements were shelled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Explosions of Ukrainian shells killed 7 civilians not participating in the armed conflict; 18 people were injured, including a 9-year-old child. More than 120 residential buildings of civilians, 3 medical buildings, 7 preschool and educational institutions were damaged and destroyed. Objects of culture, electric power industry and water supply were subjected to shelling.

Based on these facts, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated two criminal cases under Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use in an armed conflict of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation).
