The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues to work on recording the criminal actions of the Kiev nationalist authorities aimed at the destruction of the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in Donbass.

According to the investigation, from March 2 to March 4, 2022, representatives of the Ukrainian armed forces and volunteer nationalist battalions continued to inflict massive artillery and mortar strikes on the settlements of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics.

The cities of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Dokuchaevsk, Yasinovataya and Makeevka of the DPR, the cities of Pervomaisk, Kirovsk of the LPR and nearby settlements were under attack. As a result of shelling, 18 civilians not participating in the armed conflict were injured of varying severity, 2 civilians were killed shells of Ukrainian security forces. Children suffer again: 5 minors aged 2 to 15 were injured. The infrastructure facilities of the Zuevskaya TPP, a kindergarten and a city hospital, a maternity hospital, and residential buildings were damaged.

Based upon these facts, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated two criminal cases under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use in an armed conflict of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation).
