Four More Criminal Cases Have Been Initiated on the Facts of Shelling of the Territories of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics by the Military Personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Nationalist Battalions


The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues to record all the crimes of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian paramilitary formations in the extermination of the civilian population of Donbass.

According to the investigation, for the period from March 4 to March 6, 2022, settlements of the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, civilian infrastructure facilities came under fire of the Ukrainian military. The shelling and explosions killed a woman, injured 12 persons from among the civilian population of the republics, including two minors born in 2008 and 2010. Also, 63 residential and administrative buildings were damaged, including the buildings of secondary schools No. 116 in Petrovsky Raion of Donetsk and No. 30 in the city of Pervomaisk of the LPR, kindergarten No. 35; 12 transformers and 23 gas pipelines were destroyed, so more than 2,000 consumers were left without electricity and heat supply.

Based on these facts, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated four criminal cases under Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of the civilian population, the use in an armed conflict of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation).

Operations to collect evidence of the war crimes committed by representatives of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian paramilitary groups against civilians are underway.
