Chairman of the IC of Russia Instructs to Transfer Criminal Case Against Investigator from Vsevolozhsk to Central Office

Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed to transfer the criminal case on attempted bribery by a senior investigator of the Investigative Unit for the Town of Vsevolozhsk of the Investigative Department for Leningrad Oblast for further comprehensive investigation to the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia.

The criminal case was initiated under Part 3 of Article 30 and Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (attempted bribery) by the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for St. Petersburg. According to the investigators, the now former investigator promised to help two people to avoid criminal liability in exchange for illegal remuneration.

The head of the department pointed out the need for a thorough and comprehensive legal evaluation of the defendant's actions, including checking him for other possible similar illegal activity episodes.

In addition, the Chairman of the IC of Russia instructed the Personnel Department of the Investigative Committee to conduct an internal inspection on this incident against the head of the Investigative Unit for the Town of Vsevolozhsk.
