The IC of Russia Initiates Another Two Criminal Cases on Dozens of Attacks on DPR and LPR Settlements

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation continues to document all crimes of the Ukrainian armed formations against the civilian population of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

According to the investigators, dozens of artillery and mortar attacks were recorded on March 6-7, 2022, as well as the instances of using a Tochka-U tactical missile system by Ukrainian armed formations against settlements and critical civilian infrastructure facilities of the DPR and LPR.

As a result of shelling Kievsky, Kuibyshevsky, and Petrovsky Districts of Donetsk, as well as the cities of Gorlovka, Dokuchaevsk, Makeyevka, Yenakiyevo and Uglegorsk of the DPR, as well as the settlements of Pervomaisk, Kirovsk, Stakhanov and nearby areas of the LPR, 7 civilians not participating in the armed conflict suffered injuries of varying severity.

More than 110 residential buildings were damaged and destroyed, as a result of shell hits, facilities of the Yenakiyevsky Metallurgical Plant and the Yelenovsky Bakery Plant were rendered inoperable.
Health, education and culture facilities, administrative buildings of local government were attacked once again. As a result of using the Tochka-U tactical missile system, two tanks with diesel fuel and gasoline were damaged in Lugansk, which led to a fuel spill and a fire.

By firing highly destructive weapons of indiscriminate action at settlements, members of the Kyiv nationalist regime violate the provisions of the Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War, Geneva, 12.08.1949, Additional Protocol I and II thereto, Convention (IV) respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land and its annex: Regulations concerning the Laws and Customs of War on Land, the Hague, October 18, 1907, as well as UN General Assembly Resolution 2675 (XXV) “Basic principles for the protection of civilian populations in armed conflicts” of December 9, 1970.

Following these incidents, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation initiated two criminal cases under Article 356 of the Criminal Code (ill-treatment of civilians, use of means and methods prohibited by an international treaty of the Russian Federation in an armed conflict).
