Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia Ordered to Report on Reasons for Opening Criminal Case Over Fatal Wound to Attacking Petersburger

One of the TV channels reported that the Saint Petersburg court convicted a person of use of excessive force in self-defense who struck a fatal blow to one of the neighbors that assaulted his spouse.

It is emphasized that the criminal case was filed to court under a different, more serious article, although, in opinion of journalists, the male’s actions should have been considered as use of excessive force in self-defense.

Chairman of the IC of Russia A. I. Bastrykin ordered M. G. Parastaeva, Acting Head of the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for Saint Petersburg, to submit a detailed report on the reasons for opening this criminal case and findings justifying the classification of the male’s actions chosen by law enforcement.
