In Voronezh, Former Deputy Head of City Found Guilty of Taking Bribe on Particularly Large Scale
The court recognized the evidence collected by the investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Voronezh Oblast sufficient for sentencing the 32-year-old former deputy head of the Administration of the Voronezh City Municipality. He was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe on a particularly large scale). The criminal case was initiated based on the materials submitted by the Department of the FSB of Russia for Voronezh Oblast.

The investigators and the court found that in April 2018, the former deputy head of the Administration of the Voronezh City Municipality, through mediation of another person, received a bribe in the form of money in the amount of RUB 1.5 million from the director of one of the commercial organizations for assistance by virtue of his official position in making managerial decisions in the interests of this company related to the prolongation of previously concluded agreements on organizing two fairs in the city of Voronezh.

As previously reported, during the investigation, the accused partially admitted his guilt, not denying the actual circumstances of the committed act, but believing that his actions should be qualified as a different, less serious crime. At the same time, the investigative authorities have collected sufficient evidence based on the witnesses' testimony, protocols of investigative and procedural actions, as well as operational materials of the regional FSB department. Based on these facts, an indictment was approved, and the criminal case was filed for trial.

The court sentenced the former vice-mayor to 8 years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony with a fine of RUB 1.5 million and confiscation of RUB 1.5 million received as a bribe. He was also deprived of the right to hold certain positions for 8 years.
