Investigation of Criminal Cases on Participation of Individuals in the Activities of an Extremist Organization Has Been Completed

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasus Federal District has completed the investigation of criminal cases against Oleg Kharaim and Vadim Kartashov. They are accused of committing crimes under Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (participation in the activities of an organization in respect of which a court has adopted a decision, which has entered into legal force, to ban activities in connection with the implementation of extremist activities).

The investigation has established the circumstances of the crimes committed by Kharaim and Kartashov, and brought them to criminal responsibility in cooperation with the Department of the Federal Security Service of Russia for Stavropol Krai and the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Stavropol Krai.

The investigation has established that in October 2020, Kharaim and Kartashov joined the ranks of the “Right Sector” extremist Ukrainian organization banned by the decision of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation. Having become its full members, they continued their prohibited activities on the territory of the Russian Federation pursuing the goal of exacerbating the socio-political situation and destabilizing the constitutional system of the Russian Federation.

The investigation has collected a sufficient evidence base, the criminal cases against Kharaim and Kartashov with approved indictments have been forwarded to court for consideration on the merits.
