Suspects of Organizing and Participating in Extremist Association Detained in Republic of Dagestan

The Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the North Caucasian Federal District initiated a criminal case against Tatyana Fomina, Zainulla Abdullaev, Sharab Davudov, and Ruslan Abdullaev. Depending on their role, they are suspected of committing crimes under Part 1 of Part 2 of Article 282.2 of the Criminal Code (organization and participation in activities of a public association, which the court ruled to liquidate and ban its operation in connection with implementation of extremist activities).

By the decision of the Supreme Court of the Komi Republic, the interregional public association Union of Slavic Forces of Russia (other names: "Union of Soviet Socialist Republics", "USSR") was recognized as an extremist organization, and its operation was prohibited in the Russian Federation. The ideology uniting members of this organization is denial of the collapse of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics as a state, perception of the Russian Federation exclusively as the name of a commercial organization, as well as opposition and obstruction of the legitimate activities of state authorities and local self-government bodies of the Russian Federation.

Being reliably aware of this court decision, in 2021-2022, Fomina and Zainulla Abdullaev organized the operation of the abovementioned public association in the Republic of Dagestan, involving other persons in its activities, including Davudov and Ruslan Abdullaev. Following the ideology of the public association, the persons who joined it positioned themselves as citizens of the "USSR." While on the territory of the Republic of Dagestan, they did not recognize the existence of the state of the Russian Federation and the legislation in force on its territory. In addition, they actively opposed the state authorities of the Russian Federation, imposing their ideology on an unlimited number people in order to form a negative attitude towards the current government of the Russian Federation, recognizing the legitimacy of the USSR as a state entity, as well as calling on citizens and officials of state authorities of the Russian Federation to withdraw from the Russian Federation jurisdiction and submit to the authority of this extremist organization.

The MID of the IC of Russia for the North Caucasian Federal District, together with employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the North Caucasian Federal District searched the places of residence of the defendants, their relatives and other persons, as well as the location of the interregional public organization USSR in the Republic of Dagestan, seizing items and documents relevant to the criminal case.

At the investigators' request, the court imposed a restriction measure in the form of detention on Fomina, Davudov, and the Abdullaevs. Investigation of the criminal case continues, involvement of other persons in this crime is being checked.
