Criminal Case Initiated on Using Tochka-U Missile in Makeyevka by Ukrainian Troops

The Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia initiated a criminal case on a possible crime under Part 1 of Article 356 of the Criminal Code (ill-treatment of civilians; use of prohibited means and methods of warfare) in connection with Ukrainian troops using rocket weapons against the civilian population of Donbass.

According to the investigators, on March 15, servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other Ukrainian military formations fired a Tochka-U tactical missile system, which has high damaging properties, at civilian infrastructure facilities in Solnechny Microdistrict of the city of Makeyevka, Donetsk People's Republic. As a result of the shelling, three minors, two women and a man not involved in the armed conflict were injured. Civil infrastructure facilities were also damaged.

The Ukrainian military forces acted intentionally, carrying out obviously criminal orders of higher commanders and officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

Two days ago, Ukrainian nationalists used a similar tactical missile system against civilians in Donetsk. However, according to the investigators, in that case the missile was equipped with a cluster warhead, which led to a large number of deaths and injuries among the civilian population. Such means are prohibited by the Convention on Cluster Munitions, and their use by the Ukrainian nationalists is another obvious violation of international law and an act of brutality against civilians.

The Investigative Committee of Russia continues its work on identifying Ukrainian military officials involved in using highly destructive weapons against the civilian population.
