Chairman of the IC of Russia Instructs to Check Dismantling of Monument to Soviet Soldiers-Liberators in Poland

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia instructed the Central Office of the department to organize a procedural check on the dismantling of the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators in Poland, while requesting the necessary information from the Russian Foreign Ministry.

According to the available information, a monument erected in 1949 at the site where 620 Red Army soldiers of the 1st Ukrainian Front died, whose remains were later exhumed and moved to a military cemetery, was dismantled in the village of Chrzowice in southwestern Poland in presence of officials and representatives of local authorities.

Such actions are directed against the interests of Russia in the field of preserving the historical memory of the USSR efforts during the Second World War and its decisive role in the victory over fascism.

In accordance with the department head's orders, the investigators will give a legal evaluation of these actions.
