Investigators of the IC of Russia to Give a Legal Assessment of the Actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Against Russian Military Personnel

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation has instructed the investigators of the Central Office to promptly request data from the Foreign Intelligence Service on the actions of the Ukrainian military directed against Russian military personnel and to give a legal assessment of the actions of the nationalists.

According to open data from the press bureau of the Foreign Intelligence Service, the Kiev authorities are trying to prevent any further publication of videos featuring the torture of Russian prisoners of war by Ukrainian soldiers and nationalists. The Foreign Intelligence Service also has credible evidence that the Ukrainian side is persuading Western countries to encourage the International Committee of the Red Cross and various international humanitarian non-governmental organizations to abandon attempts to gain access to Russian prisoners of war. At the same time, the captured Russian military – many of whom are injured – are not supposed to be provided with sufficient food and emergency medical care. This way, the Ukrainian authorities once again demonstrate a clear and serious violation of international humanitarian law.

Such actions of Ukrainian militants – those who tortured and humiliated the prisoners of war and those who authorized such ill-treatment – will receive a comprehensive legal assessment from the Russian investigation and will be categorized as especially serious crimes. The investigation will take all necessary measures to identify all those involved and hold them accountable.
