A Criminal Case Has Been Initiated on the Fact of Shelling of the Territory of Belgorod Oblast by the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The Military Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Voronezh Garrison has initiated a criminal case against unidentified servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the grounds of a crime under Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (the use of prohibited means and methods of warfare), in connection with the shelling of the territory of Belgorod Oblast of the Russian Federation by Ukrainian military personnel.

It has been preliminary established that on March 29, 2022, at about 20:00, Ukrainian servicemen launched at least three Tochka-U tactical rockets equipped with cluster submunitions, the use of which is prohibited by international conventions, from the territory of Kharkov Oblast in the direction of Belgorod Oblast.

As a result of these illegal actions, eight citizens of the Russian Federation were injured.  All of them were promptly taken to medical facilities, where they received professional assistance. According to experts, each of them suffered serious harm to health. In addition, 21 pieces of equipment were damaged. As a result of the fire and subsequent explosions, a warehouse built at the place of temporary deployment of the military unit was destroyed.

At present, the site of the incident has been inspected, forensic medical examinations of the wounded have been scheduled. Eyewitnesses have been questioned about the circumstances of the incident. Measures are being taken to identify the persons involved in the commission of this crime.

The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.
