Chairman of the IC of Russia Instructs Officers to Investigate the Fact of Desecration of the Monument to Soviet Soldiers in Lithuania

Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee, has instructed the Main Investigative Department of the IC of Russia to record and investigate the circumstances of the desecration of the monument to Soviet soldiers-liberators in the Lithuanian city of Žasliai.

According to reports, vandals have desecrated a monument to Soviet soldiers in the Lithuanian city of Žasliai. The monument erected on the mass grave, where almost 400 soldiers, who had fallen in the fight against the Nazi invaders, were buried, has been drenched in red paint.

These actions are directed against the interests of Russia in preserving the historical memory of the activities of the USSR during the Second World War and the decisive role in the victory over fascism.

A.I. Bastrykin has instructed the investigators to give a procedural assessment of the deed, to identify all those involved in this for their subsequent prosecution.
