The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia has instructed officers to investigate the circumstances of the mining of a dam in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

Reportedly, Ukrainian nationalists have mined a dam at the reservoir of the Uglegorsk thermal power plant on the Lugan River in Svetlodarsk, the DPR. Demolition of the dam can lead to the flooding of several communities with a total population of more than 15,000 people and, eventually, to a threat to the safety of the civilian population.

As instructed by the IC head, investigators will take measures to establish the circumstances of the incident and identify the commanders of the Ukrainian units who made the decision to mine the dam, despite the obvious threat to civilians.
