The IC of Russia Detains Six Suspects in a Criminal Case of Attempted Assassination of Journalist Vladimir Solovyov

As part of the investigation of a criminal case on obstruction of the professional activities of journalist Vladimir Solovyov, investigators of the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia, together with the FSB of Russia, have identified persons who prepared his assassination. The crime was to be carried out on the territory of the city of Moscow by blowing up the journalist’s car.

The six accomplices in the crime are members of the “National Socialism/White Power” neo-Nazi terrorist organization banned in Russia. All of them are suspected of committing a crime under Part 1, Article 30, Paragraphs b, f, g, h, Part 2, Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

During the searches carried out at the defendants’ premises, the investigators, accompanied by officers of the FSB of Russia, found and seized components necessary for the manufacture of an improvised explosive device, presumably the IED itself, numerous weapons and ammunition, Nazi symbols, as well as narcotic substances.
The investigators also seized fake passports of citizens of Ukraine with falsified personal data of the detainees, which were to be used after the commissioning of the crime.

The suspects have been detained, and the investigation intends to petition the court for their arrest.
