The Ukrainian officer is charged with murder and sexual violence against civilians

The Military Investigating Authorities of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, in the presence of a pleader, arraign the senior lieutenant Sergey Batynsky, the deputy commander of a company of fire support for the educational work of the military unit A-2777, which was part of the 36th brigade of the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (hereinafter-36 BMC) on a charge of crime, prescribed in Part 1 of Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Use of Banned Means and Methods of warfare).

It was established that in early April 2022 in Mariupol, the soldiers of 36th BMC detained 2 civilians who rode their bicycles nearby the checkpoint. The citizens introduced themselves as husband and wife. Despite the fact that these civilians had the Ukrainian passports, the Ukrain officers decided to place them in the basement. Having consumed alcohol, Batynsky took the detained woman out and, in violation of the requirements stipulated in the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons In Time of War, adopted August 12, 1949, guaranteeing women special protection from all attempts on their honor (…women shall be especially protected against any attack on their honour, in particular against rape, enforced prostitution, or any form of indecent assault), threatening the murder, he committed violent actions of a sexual nature against her. When the man, who was held in the basement, tried to stop these unlawful actions, Batynsky shot him.

During the investigative experiment, which was conducted in the presence of the defense-pleader, the Accused showed the mechanism of how the crime was committed.

The reason for his negative attitude towards victims, as he mentioned, was the fact that those persons were suspected of separatism, referring to the words of his fellow-officers.

Now the Accused is repented in the committed crime.
