Military Investigative Authorities of the Russian Federation open two investigations against the servicemen of the 54th separate mechanized brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (hereinafter – 54 SMB) into an offence prescribed in Part 1 Art. 356 the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (ill-treatment of civilian persons; Use of Banned Means and Methods of Warfare).

It was established that at the end of April, the residential areas of the Petrovsky and Kirovsky districts of the Donetsk city were fired with the artillery weapons from the territory, which is under the control of the 54th SMB military personnel. As a result of these illegal actions, civilians - a juvenile and a woman - received shrapnel wounds; they did not take part either in the armed conflict or military operations. They received medical care in a timely manner. At the same time, residential buildings and household facilities were destroyed.

The Military Investigators examined the crime scene and interrogated the witnesses. Currently, measures are being taken to identify the persons involved in the commission of these crimes. Preliminary investigation continues.
