The Investigative Committee of Russia establishes 8 Ukrainian servicemen implication in new shelling of the Donetsk People’s Republic and the Lugansk People’s Republic

Within the criminal investigation of the civilian person’s ill-treatment and the use of banned means and methods warfare, the Investigative Committee of Russia established the implication of four Ukrainian commanders and four deputy commanders in a number of new crimes committed from May 1 to May 2, 2022 on the territory of Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics. Criminal cases were initiated against them in accordance with Part 1, Article 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, where the liability for these unlawful acts is prescribed.

According to the data of investigation, from May 1 to May 2, 2022. The commander of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Igor Ivanov and his deputy Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Gerasimenko gave their subordinates criminal orders to shell the Petrovsky district of Donetsk, as a result of which 2 residential buildings were damaged. Commander of the 2nd Airborne Battalion of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant Colonel Vitaliy Sushchenko, issued a criminal order to shell the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, as a result of which 8 residential buildings and apartments were damaged. The commander of the 1st Airborne Battalion of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major Sergiy Smolik and his deputy, Major Igor Sitnitsky, issued criminal orders to shell the Yasinovataya city, as a result of which 16 residential buildings were damaged.

Commander of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel Sergiy Postupalsky, Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Colonel Roman Mamavko and Chief of Staff - First Deputy Commander of the Self-Propelled Artillery Battalion of the Brigade Artillery Group of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Lieutenant Mykola Yanchy, following the deliberately criminal orders of higher commanders and officials of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, carried out massive targeted artillery and mortar attacks from heavy weapons on civilian infrastructure in the cities of the Luhansk People's Republic.

The investigation documented traces of numerous shelling of the Yelenovka settlement by Ukrainian security forces, as a result of which a civilian was killed, a school and 6 residential buildings were damaged. Civilians were injured in the Vladimirovka, Staromayorsk, Novobakhomutovka settlements. In the Yenakiyevo city, civilian buildings were damaged, and in Gorlovka, a civilian was also injured, in addition to residential buildings damage.

In the Lugansk People's Republic: 12 residential buildings and civilian infrastructure were damaged as a result of artillery shelling of the Pervomaisk city. 5 residential buildings and civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged in the Stakhanov city. 4 residential buildings were damaged in Kalinovo settlement, and power line was damaged in Kirovsk city.

The mentioned above servicemen are also prosecuted for similar crimes committed earlier.

The Investigative Committee of Russia continues to identify the Ukrainian armed formations and units, as well as the persons, involved in these crimes.
