The Investigative Committee of Russia launches new criminal cases against a number of commanders and military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the use of banned means and methods of warfare


The Main Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has launched new criminal cases against Sergey Sirchenko, Dmitry Gerasimenko, Dmitry Dovbiy, Alexander Bondarenko, Andrey Kachanov, Roman Zabrodsky, Vitaly Sushchenko, Sergey Smolik, Igor Sitnitsky and other persons from the military personnel of the 56th separate motorized infantry brigade, 24th separate mechanized brigade and 25th separate parachute - landing brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in accordance with Part 1, Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

According to the investigation, the above mentioned persons gave illegal orders to their subordinates to shell the civilian persons of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. Between May 7 to 8, on their orders, the massive targeted artillery and mortar shelling from heavy types of weapons with high damaging properties was carried out on civilian infrastructure in the cities of Donetsk, Gorlovka, Dokuchaevsk and Yasinovataya, and the settlements of Novopetrovka of the Donetsk People's Republic, as well as in the cities of Pervomaisk, Zolote-5, Rubezhnoye and Popasnaya of the Luhansk People's Republic.

As a result of their criminal actions, 10 civilians were injured in the Petrovsky rayon of Donetsk, in Dokuchaevsk and Gorlovka, in the Novopetrovka settlement, as well as in the Popasnaya and Rubizhnoye cities.

In addition, as a result of the shelling of the Petrovsky, Kuibyshevsky, Kirovsky rayons of Donetsk, the Yasinovataya, Dokuchaevsk, Gorlovka cities and the Novopetrovka settlement, as well as the Zolote-5 and Pervomaisk cities, civilian infrastructure has suffered damage. Thus, 54 residential buildings, the building of the Hall of Culture, 2 schools, a lyceum, a warehouse and a gas pipeline were damaged too.

The Investigative Committee continues to identify all persons involved in crimes against the civilian population of Donbas for the further prosecution.
