The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin instructed to conduct a procedural inspection on the vandalism act against a monument to Soviet soldiers in Lithuania.

According to the summary of incidents, distributed by the Police Department under the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, the monument to the Great Patriotic War participants was desecrated in the Bubiai settlement, Siauliai region. A swastika was drawn on the monument located at the military burial place of Soviet soldiers and officers who fell in August 1944 during the liberation of this part of Lithuania.

A procedural decision will be made based on the results of the inspection. The Investigative Committee of Russia will identify all the circumstances of crime and the persons involved in it.
