The Main Investigation Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia launched two criminal cases prescribed in Part 1, Art. 356 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (i-ll treatment of the civilian persons, the use of banned means and methods in warfare) against the the brigade artillery group commander of the 25th separate paratrooper brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yevgeny Korostelev, as well as other military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who are already the Accused of other criminal cases, they are: Sergey Sirchenko, Dmitry Gerasimenko, Vyacheslav Bugaychuk, Alexander Bondarenko, Artem Puchkov, Gennady Boyko, Miroslav Verkhovoy, Dmitry Dovbiy, Andrey Kachanov, Roman Zabrodsky, Andrey Tkachuk, Dmitry Chernichenko, Sergey Smolik, Igor Sitnitsky, Sergey Postupalsky, Roman Mamavko, Nikolay Yanchy.
According to the investigation, between May 16 and May 17, 2022, during one day, mentioned above servicemen gave and executed criminal orders for massive targeted artillery and mortar attacks from heavy weapons on civilian infrastructure in the Donetsk, Dokuchaevsk, Yasinovataya and Mariupol cities of the Donetsk People's Republic, and Pervomaisk, Zolote-5, Toshkovka and Donetsk located in the Lugansk People's Republic.
As a result of the shelling of Petrovsky, Kuibyshevsky and Kievsky rayons of Donetsk, 6 civilians were injured, 9 houses were damaged. In Yasinovataya and Dokuchaevsk, a civilian was killed and two people were injured.
As a result of artillery shelling of the Toshkovka urban-type settlement in the Lugansk People's Republic, a civilian was injured. In the Pervomaisk and Zolote-5 cities, as well as the Donetsk, 26 houses were damaged as a result of shelling. Earlier, in April 2022, a civilian was also wounded as a result of the shelling of the Yampol village.
The Russian Investigative Committee continues to identify the Ukrainian armed units and formations, including the Officials, involved in the shelling of for their further prosecution.
