The Chairman of the IC of Russia Holds Personal Meetings with Refugees

Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, has held personal meetings with a group of refugees who arrived in Bryansk Oblast and Murmansk Oblast from the Lugansk and Donetsk People’s Republics, as well as from a number of regions of Ukraine. The videoconference meetings were attended by Eduard Valerievich Kaburneev, the First Deputy Chairman of the IC of Russia, Sergey Nikolaevich Goryainov, the Deputy Chairman of the IC of Russia, heads of departments of the Central Office, as well as top officials of the Investigative Department of the IC of Russia for Bryansk Oblast and Murmansk Oblast.

Basically, the refugees unanimously noted that all conditions for comfortable living had been created for them on the territory of the Russian Federation, temporary accommodation facilities provide meals,  the necessary medicines, and children have the opportunity to attend educational institutions. “We are very grateful to the Russian Federation and in particular to the Investigative Committee for the care and concern for our needs. The IC officers help in addressing all our issues,” the applicants noted.

A.I. Bastrykin, in turn, stressed that Russia is doing everything possible to make those who arrived from Donbass and Ukraine feel comfortable, because this is our duty to people who find themselves in a challenging situation. He added that there are a number of issues, in addressing of which we are ready to provide assistance.

Some applicants have already received Russian citizenship, others are in the process of applying for it. Almost all the arrived people were recognized as victims in criminal cases about the crimes committed by the Kiev regime. In addition, most people have received temporary asylum certificates, which makes it much easier for them to find employment and receive the necessary social benefits.

However, the applicants articulated issues that are relevant to all refugees. Basically, these are issues of a legal and mundane nature. Housing is the key issue. Well-equipped temporary accommodation facilities for refugees have been created on the territory of Russia, but people are considering their future. A.I. Bastrykin proposed to discuss at the legislative level the idea of providing such individuals with preferential mortgages.

An elderly couple from the city of Donetsk was among the applicants. The husband had taken part in the liquidation of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant. They wanted their grandson to continue his study in one of the cadet corps of the Investigative Committee, which are a solid foundation for educating the younger generation and acquiring a future profession. A.I. Bastrykin instructed the respective units to consider this request.

Summer rest for children is also an issue for many internally displaced persons. They asked for help in arranging their minors’ vacations at children’s health institutions in Russia. A.I. Bastrykin instructed his subordinates to ensure this issue is resolved.

The head of the IC gave a number of specific instructions as a follow-up of personal meetings.
