The Chairman of the Investigative Committee holds a brief meeting on the pecuniary damage evaluation and estimation in Donbass

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin, together with Eduard Valeryevich Kaburneev, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, held a brief meeting with the Head of the Main Forensic Directorate (The Forensic Center) of the Russian Investigative Committee, and the Forensic Expert Center of the Body, including the Main Investigation Department Officers. The meeting was devoted to the work organization related to evaluation and estimation of damage caused by the Ukrainian security forces criminal actions in Donbas.

It was noted that the department continues its active work aimed at documenting the crimes, committed by Ukrainian armed forces. As a result of these criminal acts, many settlements, including Mariupol, were severely destroyed: residential buildings, children's and medical institutions, and other civilian infrastructure facilities were destroyed too. A.I. Bastrykin outlined the necessity for careful documenting of the shelling consequences committed by the Ukrainian security forces and a need for the thorough damage evaluation and estimation. He recalled that the work should cover both the personal sector and the damage caused to citizens, including the evaluation and estimation of the urban infrastructure destruction caused to the DPR and the LPR. The Head of the Russian Investigative Committee clarified the necessity of the perpetrators being liable not only criminally, but pecuniary too.

By decision of the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, the Forensic Specialists from the Main Directorate of the Forensic Science (Forensic Center) and the Forensic Expert Center of the Russian Investigative Committee have already been sent to the place of scene, so, following the jointly approved plan, the further appraisal and the construction and economic examinations will be executed.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia outlined the key areas for future work. The Heads of the relevant units have been given the specific instructions at increasing the pace of all the necessary forensic examinations conduction.

The Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee indicated that the targets solution requires promptness. He reminded that the security issue for the investigative and crime scene investigation teams is also the prior one, since the quality of the assigned tasks performance depends on its solution.
