The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia holds a personal reception of refugees from Donbas

Within a personal reception the Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Alexander Ivanovich Bastrykin met a group of refugees, who arrived to Krasnodarskiy krai from the Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics. The video conference reception was attended by Eduard Valerievich Kaburneev - the First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, Sergey Nikolaevich Goryainov - Deputy Chairman of the Russian Investigative Committee, the Heads of Main Directorate Units, and the Investigative Committee Officers of the Russian Investigative Committee in Krasnodarskiy Krai.

A.I. Bastrykin listened attentively to each family, noting that all stories were tragic and required an immediate response. There were citizens who literally left their homes in Mariupol under the bombardment of the armed formations of Ukraine. Thus, there was a woman, who worked as a senior nurse in a psychiatric hospital, and, she was forcibly kept by the fighters of the Azov national battalion on the territory of the medical facility along with other employees and patients. She told how she became an eyewitness to the atrocities of Ukrainian nationalists, who hid behind civilians backs, destroyed residential infrastructure and killed civilians with incredible cynicism. The refugees expressed their gratitude to the Investigative Committee for an objective and comprehensive investigation of these crimes. A.I. Bastrykin, in his turn, briefly told people about the investigation progress and the results achieved since 2014. He assured that the perpetrators would be prosecuted, and the principle of the inevitability of punishment would be implemented. In addition, the evaluation and estimation of the pecuniary, caused to Donbas, as a result of the Kyiv regime criminal actions is proceeding now, so the perpetrators would be not only criminally liable, but would bear the material responsibility as well.

“Mariupol is badly damaged; it will take time and resources to restore it. Therefore, among other things, we set the target to evaluate and estimate the pecuniary damage, caused to both: individual persons and to urban infrastructure,” the Head of the Russian Investigative Committee noted, adding that the Investigative Committee is strengthening the presence of investigative teams in Donbas, including the forensic experts and specialists of the Forensic Expert Center.

Then A.I. Bastrykin listened to the report of A.K. Maslov – the Head of the Investigation Unit of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Krasnodarskiy Krai. He said that all the refugees are comfortably accommodated, they are provided with the necessary assistance of a legal and domestic nature, and the majority of them have already been paid a lump sum payment. All of them received temporary asylum status.

Many refugees expressed their desire to stay in Russia and haveasked for assistance in obtaining the citizenship quicker, since this procedure takes a long time.

The housing issue is one of the most important one for the majority of refugees; many of them are considering the option of mortgage lending. People also asked for the employment assistance. Among the arrivals there were persons of various specialties: junior medical personnel, engineers, drivers, kindergarten tutors, etc. As A.K. Maslov noted, all of them would be employed in Krasnodarskiy Krai.

In addition, the issue of a possible temporary preferential travel pass in public transport for the refugees was discussed. One person asked to consider the possibility her daughter being entered to the academy of the Investigative Committee of Russia. A.I. Bastrykin instructed the specific specialists to review such possibility.

Closing the personal reception, the Head of the Committee gave a number of specific instructions, including devising the algorithm of actions for refugees and distributing it as a memo.
